Pulau Rakata, yang merupakan satu dari tiga pulau sisa Gunung Krakatau Purba kemudian tumbuh sesuai dengan dorongan vulkanik dari dalam perut bumi yang dikenal sebagai Gunung Krakatau (atau Gunung Rakata) yang terbuat dari batuan basaltik. Kemudian, dua gunung api muncul dari tengah kawah, bernama Gunung Danan dan Gunung Perbuwatan yang kemudian menyatu dengan Gunung Rakata yang muncul terlebih dahulu. Persatuan ketiga gunung api inilah yang disebut Gunung Krakatau.

Gunung Krakatau pernah meletus pada tahun 1680 menghasilkan lava andesitik asam. Lalu pada tahun 1880, Gunung Perbuwatan aktif mengeluarkan lava meskipun tidak meletus. Setelah masa itu, tidak ada lagi aktivitas vulkanis di Krakatau hingga 20 Mei 1883. Pada hari itu, setelah 200 tahun tertidur, terjadi ledakan kecil pada Gunung Krakatau. Itulah tanda-tanda awal bakal terjadinya letusan dahsyat di Selat Sunda. Ledakan kecil ini kemudian disusul dengan letusan-letusan kecil yang puncaknya terjadi pada 26-27 Agustus 1883.

Keindahan alam dan panoramanya pasti akan membut anda ketagihan datang ke Danau Kelimutu atau Danau Tiga Warna, dan yang mengagumkan lagi danau ini terkenal memiliki tiga warna.
Perjalanan ke Pulau Flores, di Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), khususnya ke Ende takkan lengkap jika belum mengunjungi Danau Kelimutu atau Danau Tiga Warna. Danau Kelimutu merupakan danau yang menyimpan banyak cerita dan misteri.

Danau ini dikenal dengan tiga warna, yaitu merah, biru, dan putih. Walaupun begitu, warna-warna tersebut selalu berubah-ubah seiring dengan perjalanan waktu. Sekarang saja, dua warna dari ketiga danau itu adalah cokelat, sedangkan yang lain adalah hijau.

Kelimutu merupakan gabungan kata dari "Keli" yang berarti gunung dan kata "Mutu" yang berarti mendidih. Menurut kepercayaan penduduk setempat, warna-warna pada Danau Kelimutu memiliki arti masing-masing dan memiliki kekuatan alam yang sangat dahsyat.

Danau atau Tiwu Kelimutu di bagi atas tiga bagian yang sesuai dengan warna-warna yang ada di dalam danau. Danau berwarna biru atau Tiwu Nuwa Muri Koo Fai merupakan tempat berkumpulnya jiwa-jiwa muda-mudi yang telah meninggal.

Puncak Jayawijaya ,Carstenz dan Bromo

Puncak yang juga terdaftar sebagai salah satu dari tujuh puncak benua (Seven Summit) yang sangat fenomenal dan menjadi incaran pendaki gunung di berbagai belahan dunia. Puncak Jayawijaya terletak di Taman Nasional Laurentz, Papua. Puncak ini diselimuti oleh salju abadi. Salju abadi di Puncak Jayawijaya merupakan satu dari tiga padang salju di daerah tropis yang terdapat di dunia.
Di negeri kita yang dilalui garis khatulistiwa ini, menyaksikan adanya salju di Indonesia tentunya sesuatu yang mustahil untuk bisa dimengerti. Carstenz Pyramid (4884 mdpl) adalah salah satu puncak yang bersalju tersebut. Puncak tertinggi di Asia Tenggara dan Pasifik ini terletak di rangkaian Pegunungan Sudirman. Puncak ini terkenal tidak hanya karena tingginya, tetapi juga karena terdapat lapisan salju di puncaknya.

Pulau Komodo adalah sebuah pulau yang terletak di Kepulauan Nusa Tenggara. Pulau Komodo dikenal sebagai habitat asli hewan komodo. Pulau ini juga merupakan kawasan Taman Nasional Komodo yang dikelola oleh Pemerintah Pusat. Pulau Komodo berada di sebelah timur Pulau Sumbawa, yang dipisahkan oleh Selat Sape.

Secara administratif, pulau ini termasuk wilayah Kecamatan Komodo, Kabupaten Manggarai Barat, Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia. Pulau Komodo merupakan ujung paling barat Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur, berbatasan dengan Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Barat.

Di Pulau Komodo, hewan komodo hidup dan berkembang biak dengan baik. Hingga Agustus 2009, di pulau ini terdapat sekitar 1300 ekor komodo. Ditambah dengan pulau lain, seperti Pulau Rinca dan dan Gili Motang, jumlah mereka keseluruhan mencapai sekitar 2500 ekor. Ada pula sekitar 100 ekor komodo di Cagar Alam Wae Wuul di daratan Pulau Flores tapi tidak termasuk wilayah Taman Nasional Komodo.

Selain komodo, pulau ini juga menyimpan eksotisme flora yang beragam kayu sepang yang oleh warga sekitar digunakan sebagi obat dan bahan pewarna pakaian, pohon nitak ini atau sterculia oblongata di yakini berguna sebagai obat dan bijinya gurih dan enak seperti kacang polong.

Pulau Bali

Bali adalah nama salah satu provinsi di Indonesia dan juga merupakan nama pulau terbesar yang menjadi bagian dari provinsi tersebut. Selain terdiri dari Pulau Bali, wilayah Provinsi Bali juga terdiri dari pulau-pulau yang lebih kecil di sekitarnya, yaitu Pulau Nusa Penida, Pulau Nusa Lembongan, Pulau Nusa Ceningan dan Pulau Serangan.

Bali terletak di antara Pulau Jawa dan Pulau Lombok. Ibukota provinsinya ialah Denpasar yang terletak di bagian selatan pulau ini. Mayoritas penduduk Bali adalah pemeluk agama Hindu. Di dunia, Bali terkenal sebagai tujuan pariwisata dengan keunikan berbagai hasil seni-budayanya, khususnya bagi para wisatawan Jepang dan Australia. Bali juga dikenal dengan sebutan Pulau Dewata dan Pulau Seribu Pura.

Candi Borobudur dan Candi Prambanan

Borobudur adalah candi Budha terbesar di abad ke-9 yang berukuran 123 x 123 meter. Candi Borobudur selesai dibangun berabad-abad sebelum Angkor Wat di Kamboja. Candi ini dibangun ketika Samaratungga – raja dari dinasti Syailendra memerintah di Jawa Tengah. Candi ini dianggap merupakan salah satu tujuh keajaiban dunia. Candi Borobudur terletak di desa Borobudur, Magelang, Jawa Tengah. Candi Borobudur sangat besar dan terdiri dari blok batu-batu besar dengan arsitektur yang sangat megah. Karena itu candi Borobudur saya  tempatkan pada barisan pertama karena tingkat kesulitan pembuatannya.

Candi Prambanan

Candi Prambanan adalah candi Hindu terbesar di Asia Tenggara. Dibangun di abad ke-10 pada masa pemerintahan dua raja, Rakai Pikatan dan Rakai Balitung. Menjulang setinggi 47 meter (5 meter lebih tinggi dari Candi Borobudur) Candi Prambanan terletak di perbatasan Jawa Tengah dan Yogyakarta. Candi ini dibangun pada sekitar tahun 850 Masehi. Arsitektur bangunan ini sangat megah dan terdapat candi-candi baik besar maupun kecil pada Komplek Candi Prambanan ini. Juga ada legenda bahwa candi-candi tersebut hanya dibuat dalam satu malam saja oleh kesaktian Bandung bondowoso sebagai syarat mempersunting Loro Jonggrang. Tapi bukan karena legenda itu Prambanan dimasukkan dalam daftar ini tapi karena kehebatan arsitekturnya yang memukau dunia.
